Adolescence (from the Latin: adolescere meaning "to grow up") is a transitional stage of physical and mental human development that occurs between childhood and adulthood. This transition involves biological (i.e. pubertal), social, and psychological changes, though the biological or physiological ones are the easiest to measure objectively. Historically, puberty has been heavily associated with teenagers and the onset of adolescent development. In recent years, however, the start of puberty has had somewhat of an increase in preadolescence (particularly females, as seen with early and precocious puberty); adolescence has had an occasional extension beyond the teenage years (typically males). These changes have made it more difficult to rigidly define the time frame in which adolescence occurs. The end of adolescence and the beginning of adulthood varies by country and by function, and furthermore even within a single nation-state or culture there can be different ages at which an individual is considered to be (chronologically and legally) mature enough to be entrusted by society with certain tasks. Such milestones include, but are not limited to, driving a vehicle, having legal sexual relations, serving in the armed forces or on a jury, purchasing and drinking alcohol, voting, entering into contracts, completing certain levels of education, and marrying. Adolescence is usually accompanied by an increased independence allowed by the parents or legal guardians and less supervision, contrary to the preadolescence stage. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License Why do teenagers get angry very easily? And what are the ways to control anger? Q. I've once read an article and it stated that the development of our brain during puberty period is one of the factors that cause teenagers to be angry very easily. Is it really true? If so, how does it happen? What has caused teenagers to be angry easily? I'm a teenager myself and experienced this very often. When I was a child, I used to be very cheerful and seldom got angry. But once I reached my puberty period, I tend to be a bit more hot-tempered and very easily get angry. Why? And how? Please tell me, I've been seeking for the answers for years. They also lack the ability to correctly judge time. Knowing all this, I am very tolerant with my teen daughter. When she is ready to talk, we talk...about absolutely anything. She is very honest with me during our talks because she knows I will not fly off the handle. I show her how to control anger by being in control of my anger. What advice would you give to teenagers about their lifestyle choices, especially in the light of the many influencing "voices" around them? Asked by stella25 - Sat Feb 9 12:03:55 2008 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments A. Every choice you make has a consequence. During the teen years, identity is important. Often you define yourself by your activities and associations, your abilities and your desires. Relationships with the opposite sex become more plausible, but potentially detrimental too. A romance can get you to do, feel and think things you wouldn't have if you decided to wait. Most of the "voices" heard in this world encourage teen romance, living for the moment, pleasure over principle and fast living. These things may be appealing and make good movies and video games, but are seeds that don't reap rewards for the future. Plan your life wisely, listen to the wisdom around you. Q. Many teenagers cuss and use slang in front of their friends but change their tone when their parents are nearby. Sometimes the parents do not mind the cussing and slang but the change still occurs. Is it because they have two different sides? They act differently when talking to friends and family.
