Adolescence (from Latin: adolescere meaning "to grow up") is a transitional stage of physical and mental human development generally occurring between puberty and legal adulthood (age of majority), but may also be defined as ending with the teenage stage. According to Erik Erikson's stages of human development, for example, a young adult is generally a person between the ages of 20 and 40, whereas an adolescent is a person between the ages of 13 and 19. Historically, puberty has been heavily associated with teenagers and the onset of adolescent development. However, the start of puberty has had somewhat of an increase in preadolescence (particularly females, as seen with early and precocious puberty), and adolescence has had an occasional extension beyond the teenage years (typically males) compared to previous generations. These changes have made it more difficult to rigidly define the time frame in which adolescence occurs. The end of adolescence and the beginning of adulthood varies by country and by function, and furthermore even within a single nation-state or culture there can be different ages at which an individual is considered to be (chronologically and legally) mature enough to be entrusted by society with certain tasks. Such milestones include, but are not limited to, driving a vehicle, having legal sexual relations, serving in the armed forces or on a jury, purchasing and drinking alcohol, voting, entering into contracts, completing certain levels of education, and marrying. Adolescence is usually accompanied by an increased independence allowed by the parents or legal guardians and less supervision, contrary to the preadolescence stage. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License How do you think losing an adolescence could affect a person in the future? Q. if a person who's 18 years old has lost their whole adolescence shut in their house without going out or going just anywhere because they've got social phobia, aren't interested in social life whatsoever and has literally slept about an entire decade, how do you think having completely lost their adolescence would affect this or any person in the future? Asked by dan - Wed Dec 2 17:25:01 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. They won't have any social skills. They won't know how to handle situations that deal with people. They'll pretty much be isolated from the world for the rest of their life. This is reversible, but it takes a lot of time, work, and possible therapy. Q. My idea of it was not like that honestly, I thought that ejaculation will only happen when one masturbates, and I know not all teenage males masturbate. So, my thought of it was, the first ejaculation could happen during adolescence or adulthood-- when he have s3x with his wife. But wikipedia, and school says otherwise, "The major landmark of puberty for males is the first ejaculation, which occurs, on average, at age 13." Asked by chill out - Fri Jul 23 08:53:31 2010 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments A. Most boys experience their first ejaculation whilst masturbating. Many have been masturbating for several years before puberty, but only experience "dry" orgasms up until then. Once the seminal vesicles and prostate gland have matured sufficiently, they will start producing semen and it is then that ejaculations are possible. The testicles will still be undeveloped at this point, so the semen will be sterile and not contain any sperms initially. The testicles mature and make sperms a few months later in the majority of boys. If the boy has reached the start of puberty without ever masturbating to orgasm, he may not witness his first "ejaculation" because he will be asleep when he releases his excess store of unused semen during a nocturnal… [cont.] Answered by TONY - Fri Jul 23 09:28:32 2010 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Adolescence" Teenagers (or adolescents) are human beings in the transitional stage of physical and mental human development that occurs between childhood and adulthood.
